i have one, if you spend a lot of time with them and really work on teaching them something they usually get it but if you just ignore them they are pretty dumb.

They are rather smart, they can even learn a number of tricks. Maybe not like rats, but love to socialize and explore.
I tried litter training with not much success, but playing fetch and coming when called seemed acceptable. The traing was the fun part for them.

Guinea pigs are intelligent rodents that can be taught many things. They need variety and don't like being bored. Guinea pigs best learn a lot later than cats and dogs – while dogs are best trained when they are only a few weeks old, the time is right for guinea pigs when they are nine to ten months old.
