Mice or rats? which has best feeding values?

I own a ball python, and i've been feeding him mice. but one of my brother's friends who really owns alot of snakes, and is a proffesional snake handler told me that i should rather feed my ball python rats than mice, because they've got much better feeding values? is this correct?

depends on the size of the snake really. zoos and stuff feed this massive pythons rats.

mice are better because they are smaller and cheaper

You are mean just like any other snake owner!!! To feed mice and rats to snakes is mean!! I have owned two mice and have a rat right now. They are very inteligent creatures and friendly too!!! You would get anry if people feed snakes or animals you like to other animals! I know everything has to eat, but in the wild a rat or mouse has a chance of escaping in a cage it is trapped! Its no right!!!!! You could at least buy already dead ones or my choice not even keep a snake. Why do people keep snakes anyway except for the ones who dont eat meat. Because you cant hold them and they just sit in a cage all day and hide under logs and rocks. And they might bite like any animal but most animals dont break skin. It is a cruel death for a rodent who hasnt even done anything to you! They are meant to be pets or free out in the wild not food! What do the mice and rats get back anyway if you are just killing them. Nothing alives purpose should be foor food!!!

I agree with the comment above, its taken pretty offensively from rodent owners because they see so many live rats go to snakes.



I believe rats have a better nutritional value then mice. But please buy the rats that are already dead and made for snakes and not the live pet store rats that are meant as pets.

there is greater to a rat than a mouse so in case you want to furnish your snake greater to eat, rats could be a thank you to bypass. Mice are regularly used for smaller snakes such because of fact the corn snakes.

You are soooooooo mean. How about feeding your snake some veggies, I feed them to my hamster. This is on Rodents, and like alot of people have said, we love our rodents! Mice are hamster's second cousins. Snake owners can be soooooo cruel .
