I just got a baby bunny two days ago!!! I named her Lily. But she doesn't seem to know me yet! lol...

She isn't like my dogs at all... My dogs know what I say to them!

How are rabbits different comparing to dogs?

How about cats... I want to have one too badly! :(

My dwarf male bunny knew his name. We could call him to nibble on the kitchen scrapes if we were cutting carrots or strawberries. If you spend enough time with them -- they become very much so like dogs, except with an attitude sometimes. Like we'd call "Oscar!" and youd see him freeze, and his ears would swivel over, but he would then still hop away slowly and pretend not to hear you until you annoyed him by calling his name multiple times, then he'd come over. We also trained him to stand and hop and do cute rabbit things. The main difference between them and a dog is probably.... they will get behind counters and chew up ALL the wires, they also eat fringe off blankets, and house hold plants. Second main difference would be.... hm... that they have their own agenda. Oscar thought he should be let out to roam the house at 6 am exactly everyday. You call them, they might choose not to answer. Dogs are more eager to please their owners.

Rabbits are very different from dogs!

In terms of training, dogs are usually considered easier than rabbits as far as "tricks" go. Dogs are more eager to please, where as a rabbit tends to need more incentive through use of treat foods and repetition.

As far as her name goes, give it time. Use her name when you're referring to her, and talk to her while you pet her, feed her, etc. She will come to recognize her name in time.

If you want her to come when called like a dog however, you'll need a bit more training. A good method is to call her name when you're about to give her a treat. Eventually, she'll associate her name with good things and come hopping over right away!

As a side note if you're thinking about having a cat as well, be sure to take extra care. Always introduce new pets slowly, and be prepared to accommodate them if they don't like each other.

Here is a good source of new bunny info as well :)

Rabbits, like dogs, can learn their name and become attached to their owner(s), but it does take time! After a year or two of loving care and constant name calling, she should learn to come when called.

Here are some ways to speed up the learning process:

- Try saying her name to her when you feed her. Say it distinctly, emphasising the two syllable.

- Try to avoid nicknames (difficult I know!) because this will confuse her

- If she doesn't respond to her name even though you've tried for ages, try using something more distinctive, like a bell or whistle (but nothing too loud - you'll scare her!)

- The earlier you start training, the faster she'll learn - good luck!
