Question:
Can my pet rat eat peanut butter?

The lady at Petco who sold me my rat told me that Norah shouldn't eat cheese and peanut butter because they cannot pass gas. It seemed to make sense. But I am seeing all over the internet people talking about peanut butter treats for their rat.

Since Petco employees really don't know what they're talking about I am hoping someone can clear this up for me. Thanks you

Rats CAN pass gas.

They cannot burp though.

I wouldnt give Norah peanut butter. It is very sticky and thick; making it very difficult to swallow for people, never mind rats! Personally, i wouldnt want to risk my rats choking :)

You can give them it but it has to be a very rare treat my rats had it like twice this year.

They can choke on it if it's just stright peanut butter so try mixing it with a little milk.

They can have a little bit, but not too much as they can choke on it. and if you do give your rat some, its usually recommended that you mix it with jam (i think) to thin it down
