SO my neighbor complained about our animals and we got rid of them.. and my mom wants to get rid of my rabbits to get ducks :\ she said I could get gerbils if I get rid of two of my rabbits. I have three rabbits and I like rodents xD.. So I'd keep one of the rabbits and get a pair of gerbils. Which do you like better? my mom said I don't have to but.. I want ducks :\ Pros and cons of gerbils? xD cant really make up my mind.. So whatever you say is appreciated v_v.

Though gerbils are great great great pets (rabbits are too), you should really keep the rabbits you have now. Since you took them in, you should never have to throw them out.

I have tons of animals; rabbits, spiders, gerbils, hamsters, ducks, chickens etc.. and I think gerbils are great pets! They're desert animals so they don't drink a huge amount and so don't make much waste. They smell much less. If you have them in a gerbilarium you only need to clean it out once every two weeks and it's fairly easy, no harder than a hamster enclosure. They need quite a few inches of substrate and about a tbsp of food per gerbil. Another great thing is they literally never bite! As youngsters they may nibble but trust me, it doesn't hurt at all! It's like when you chew on the side of your finger softly. Ever been bitten by a hamster or rabbit? I have. Awch! And if young gerbils nibble it's a habit easily broken. They need to live in partners or groups. I have two males; one has never bitten or nibbled me, and the other did once and it took two days to stop him. When he does, blow softly on him and say "no." They're great pets, really! You can handle them and they're abit faster than hamsters, can jump too, but not when you handle them (from my experience). You can teach them agility and make them little jumps and things too, great for rainy days! Plus they barely make a noise and they're so active! Unlike hamsters they're not nocturnal, they have many awake and sleep cycles throughout the day and night so no missing sleep and plenty of time to handle them whenever you like. They're like mini bulldozers, always doing something.

Good luck!

I have had quite a variety of animals but not gerbils. My cousin used to have one and i remember it as being quite reclusive and nippy i have a rabbit and i think he has been my favorite rodent. Also once you get an animal it is your responsibility to care for them. I think you should take of the animals you have instead of trading them in for different ones....
