Okay forget everything you guys might know about me.
A hamster i had was bought 9 months ago, I tried to tame it but to no avail...
Once in a while, i do try to tame it like once every 1 month. OKAY I Admit i am afraid of the hamster bite.
So its like ONCE IN A MONTH? And to no avail too... but i myself is also very sensitive, when it bites i will "retract" my hand as soon as possible.
So, just now i used a glove and the glove smell like detergent plus a bit of wierd smell.
So at first the hamster bite it like it always does to my hand, then it started to eat the food i placed on the palm. I left a pile of it haha. So this hamster was like picking all the sunflower seeds out of all the other nuts and food. :D
For the first time in 9 months, i seriously feel its getting tamable. hmm... but using a glove? what if when i switch back to my own hand, it starts to bite me? Anybody can handle this?

Overall. i still have this hamster's sister, and this sister is TOTALLY TAMED! so i did an experiment, i tried putting my hand in its sister cage, and it did not bite me (cos its tamed) But when i wore a glove, it did. So does it make sense that even if my hamster i was talking about which is not tamed, gets tamed by a glove, when i switch back to hand, she will bite me? so how should i solve this? Sigh...

Hello David :D i wrote a huge Like 6000 Character Answer but yahoo answer deleted it : / i will rewrite half of it :(

As i said I saw that u said a 4000 character question And i want to help u so lets start

When you first bring your hamster home, you should leave him alone for a couple days. Place his home in an area that has less traffic. He will have many sounds to get used to! Give him plenty of food and make sure water is available. It may be tempting to take your hamster out to play, but that will over-stress your hamster. Your hamster should be kept in a calm environment.

For a hamster to be a tame and good pet, it must be socialized. This means frequent, gentle and respectful handling that helps the hamster become comfortable with people. The younger the hamster, the easier he is to tame. Also, syrian hamsters tend to tame a little faster. With all hamsters, patience is the key. If your hamster looks scared or if he bites during the taming process, you need to slow down. Go back to the previous step or even two steps back. Your hammie should approach you in a relaxed manner several times (usually a period of over 2 to 3 days) before moving on to the next step.

1. Start by feeding him treats thru the bars of the cage. Let him smell your hand.

2. Feed him treats through the opening of his cage. Place treats between your index and thumb.

3. Feed him treats through the opening of his cage. This time, place the treat in the palm of your hand.

4. After he runs in his zoom-zoom ball, place your hand inside the ball, palm up. Encourage him to walk onto your hand. This step may take some time. Limit your first play sessions to 5 minutes. It may take a few sessions before he comes out of his ball and onto your hand.

Alternate steps 3 and 4, and he will eventually come out onto your hand.

5. Make sure you are sitting on the floor when you first handle your hamster. Always have his cage or ball nearby. Let him sniff and explore your hand and lap. Hamsters like to go from one hand the other hand that's placed slightly lower. They like to go onto your shoulders, but wait on this until you've handled him for a couple weeks.

The average taming takes between 2 weeks to a month or more. Remember that biting is a reflex. Your hamster will bite when scared. Let your hamster climb on your hand instead of trying to catch him. Wash your hands before and after handling your hamster. He may try to nibble if you smell like food. In my opinion, wearing gloves can make taming more difficult and slows the process. Though, you being nervous is not going to calm your hamster. If you are only comfortable handling him that way, do so, but as long as you're not rushing and you follow these steps, you should be fine. When you're hamster does bite, calmly put him back into his cage. Never scold your hamster. He will not learn that way, he'll just get more scared and bite more!

When first picking up your hamster, don't lift him high above the floor or walk with him in your hands. Until he's comfortable with you, he will jump. Experienced hamster owners will learn to feel their hamster on their hand and know what moves he will make.

ok the 1st factor to do will sound strange besides the undeniable fact that it facilitates.placed on an old pair of socks you do no longer prefer anymore for an afternoon and then take them off and placed a million in her cage and throw away the different.this could get her used to thinking that your fragrance does not pose a risk.it particularly is critical using fact hamster eyesight isn't that great. Then wait 2 days (leaving her with the sock)then while she is conscious and not eating or grooming placed some sunflower seeds on your palm and placed your hand interior the cage. She could nibble your palms yet won't chew annoying-nibbling is her way of seeing what you're.permit her take the seeds yet do no longer try to hold her out or puppy her. Repeat that when or two times an afternoon for 2 or 3 days, then try to gently stroke her with a finger together as she is close on your hand.try this for a pair of days then assuming she does not run, gently placed the two palms side via side together with her interior the middle and slowly carry her out,sit down and stroke her with a million hand for a minute then placed her returned, repeat this over quite a few days or each week slowly increasing how long you have her out for. at last she will have the skill to be completely comfortable with you.the final analysis is persistence.

Teach by example. eg. if you want it to breed, have vigourous sex with another hamster in front of it.
