I had a gerbil, and I loved it!

They have quite long tails, whereas hamsters don't.

The tail makes them very easy to pick up and to handle.

And they never bite. Well mine did bite just once, but that's 'cos hurt her by accident. :(

The only problem is them move quite fast, so for exercise, put them in a ball, and don't leave them free, especially if you have a lot of furniture, because then they can be quite hard to catch.

Get a hamster. Gerbils just don't have the same appeal :]

Hamsters: 2-4 years.

Gerbils: 2-3 years.

edit: my hamster never bit me. i heard gerbils bite a looooot.

Well, hamsters are a lot nicer and they are fun to hold and they are soft, and normally cute and chubby, lol! I think gerbils are less cute and they arent as nice and plump as hamsters are. They also run out of there cgaes more often and stay awake making noises. I definatly prefer hamsters.

gerbil is way better. They smell better that a hamster and eat less. They have about the same life span. And what do you have against grinding?

Gerbils don't bit. Hamsters usually bit. Gerbils are not as cute in my opinion. I'm sure they both smell.hehe

Hamsters! :)

Personally, I've never had a gerbil, but hamsters are a lot cuter :)
