It's possible for hamsters to eat each other, my friend had to hamsters and they fought a lot because of food (lol) but they loved each other so they had babies I have one of the babies too I personally think that you should get another hamster but put them in separate cages that's all you have to do if you want another one, hamsters are violent too.

Hi, I am able to give professional advice on Syrian hamsters. I previously bred them too and had 5 at one bit. Hamsters must not be housed together AT ALL, not even a male with a male, or female with a female, they will not live in pairs. If you want to breed then I would suggest putting the female in a bucket then introducing the male, then returning them both back to their cages. Every time I bred mine I was successful on every single mate, they normally have babies around a month after mating. If you require any more advice then contact me on lambo.bell@yahoo.co.uk

Yep if you get a new hamster it will get attacked by the current one and killed.

Dont ever ever put hamsters together. Only certain hamsters can live together and they have to have been born together.

they can't be kept together, if its a syrian hamster, either one of them. the only kind of hamster that can be kept with a partner is a dwarf hamster. Syrians(black bear, honey bear, ect.) will fight until death, not kidding, even if not in their cages. Dwarf hamsters are known to be social, that means that they can be kept with another hamster, and become friends with them.

keep them seperated! hammies are solitary animals and dont do well housed together. your current hamster will see the new one as a rival and a threat and will possibly fight to the death to claim his territory. hammies dont generally eat each other. only mothers will eat their babies when they feel threatened.

Teddy bear or Syrian hamsters are solitary and will fight to the death if housed together.

Please do not do this as one of them (probably the new one) will be killed and *possibly* eaten.

they won't eat each other, but they will fight. all hamsters get terriotial and fight. please don't put either hamster in this situation and split them up.

Yes its not a good idea AT ALL. Hamsters are not herding animals therefore will not be housed together!
